Advice to Students:
Don’t be intimidated by skills you don’t have yet (operating equipment, software programs, technical know-how). Work up the learning curve steadily and you may find yourself the expert that others look to for guidance.

Go to the library, whatever form it takes, and read papers and books. Many problems, or pieces of them, have been solved already without you having to reinvent the wheel.

The people who need to know about Mines, know about Mines (i.e. the people that will hire you).

Make friends with the IT department.
